After a resurgent season and a pivot to second base, Bo Bichette is going to be a hot commodity this offseason.

While the Toronto Blue Jays would be wise to retain their homegrown star, other teams are lining up to build towards their own World Series push. Bichette reportedly has the interest of many clubs and could be the first big name off the board this winter.

A team that could make a lot of sense for Bichette is the Seattle Mariners.

It feels like the Mariners are on the cusp of a big move.

The club narrowly missed out on their first World Series appearance in franchise history. A crushing loss in Game 7 of the ALCS has left Seattle hungry. A taste of success needs to fuel their offseason in an effort to take the next step towards glory.

Bichette to Seattle?

Bichette could be exactly what this club needs.

Seattle has a need at both second and third base, two positions Bichette is able to play moving forward. While he projects more as a second baseman, third base would not be the most out-of-left-field idea. The club is expected to lose third baseman Eugenio Suarez in free agency. They acquired Suarez from Arizona during the Trade Deadline.

The veteran shortstop will be signed for his contributions at the plate, not with his glove. With J.P. Crawford holding down shortstop in 2026, the Mariners could take their pick of position. Crawford’s contract does expire at season’s end.

Seattle does have top prospects Cole Young and Colt Emerson as infield alternatives as well. Young debuted in 2025, but his bat will need more seasoning. For a team that is focused on winning, you can figure out where to play the young talent after you add elite production.

Emerson likely projects at the team’s shortstop for the next decade. An infield of Bichette, Emerson, Young, and a first baseman could be one of baseball’s best moving forward. It all depends on how aggressive Seattle wants to be and how well they can develop their young talent.

Bichette in Seattle could be the start of a fun offseason in Major League Baseball.
